DSpace Scalability: Ingesting 1 Million Items

July 2008 

The U.S. National Library of Medicine has recently preformed scalability tests on the DSpace platform, ingesting 1 million items. The test was successful and concluded that DSpace "shows acceptable ingest performance for a million-item archive." Read NLM white paper, "Testing the Scalability of a DSpace-based Archive" or reveiw the presentation of results from the DLF conference, "Experiment to Investigate the Scalability of a DSpace-based Archive" .

 
UNESCO Open Access Handbook: Opportunities and Challenges

July 2008 

The handbook on Open Access published by the German Commission and the European Commission  aims to provide information about the opportunities and challenges offered by Open Access, and to present a wide array of issues and positions under debate. The English version of the handbook is a translation of the handbook in German, published by the German Commission for UNESCO  in 2007.

 
DSpace Architecture Recommendations

January 2007 

In 2006, the DSpace community undertook a major review of the DSpace architecture and technology in order to create a roadmap for platform development to be implemented over the next year.
Here is the report on the recommendations for the next generation DSpace architecture
