Can manage and preserve all types of digital content -

The DSpace application can recognize and manage a large number of file format and mime types .  Some of the most common formats currently managed within the DSpace environment are PDF and Word documents.  JPEG, MPEG, TIFF files.   In the near future files ingested will be recognized and validated via the Global Digital format registry(GDFR) and JHOVE application tool. 

The system provides bit integrity checking  through MD5 checksum reporting.  A History system provides an audit trail of all changes to an item and associated metadata.
